JOB TITLE:

Tutoring Specialist (General Subjects)

LOCATION:

Mobile – Serving various locations around Houston, TX

JOB TYPE:

Part-time

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide personalized tutoring and instruction to students from diverse backgrounds based on their current academic needs 

  • Develop and implement customized lesson plans and educational materials tailored to each student's individual needs and learning styles. 

  • Maintain a positive and encouraging learning environment to help students build confidence and achieve their academic and personal goals.

  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and supervisor.

  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and colleagues to maintain exceptional relationships

QUALIFICATIONS:

​Experience

  • Desire and willingness to teach 

  • Experience instructing, tutoring and/or teaching (including college courses)

  • Strong understanding and application of educational best practices and effective teaching strategies

​

Education:

  • Subject Matter Expert in tutored subject with successful, verifiable college course work in the subject(s) 

​​

Required Skills:

  • Ability to manage own schedule, including managing a caseload of multiple tutoring students and being on time to all scheduled tutoring sessions and meetings

  • Creative and flexible teaching approach

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organization skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, Drive, Meet), and Zoom

  • Entrepreneurial mindset - the desire to grow and continue working with multiple students with a range of needs and backgrounds

Other Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation for mobile tutoring sessions

  • High-speed internet for online tutoring sessions

​

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities

  • Familiarity with various educational tools and technologies

  • Teaching certification or experience teaching/tutoring math and/or reading

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field

​
