SPECIAL EDUCATION SUPPORT CLIENT:
Advocating for Special Education Needs
CLIENT:
Jennifer and Alicia
DURATION:
2015-Present
BACKGROUND
I have known Jennifer and her daughter Alicia since before Alicia started school. Alicia enrolled in public school and initially kept up with her peers, but by the 3rd grade, Jennifer noticed her grades slipping. By the 5th grade, Alicia was diagnosed with a learning disability in math calculation, and Jennifer reached out to me for assistance. After identifying errors in Alicia's initial IEP, I helped Jennifer request amendments. Throughout Alicia's school years, I have continued to review her IEPs, attend ARD meetings, and coach Jennifer on advocacy. Now a senior, Alicia still benefits from these services, and I am preparing her for self-advocacy in college.
OVERVIEW
"My daughter was diagnosed with a learning disability in the 5th grade. Receiving the news that your child will likely require special education for the remainder of their school career is not easy. I recall sitting in the initial ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meeting, feeling tearful and overwhelmed with a packet full of jargon that I could not even begin to understand. After that first meeting, I promised my child that I would never attend another meeting without being able to advocate for her properly."
EXPERT ADVOCACY FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION SUCCESS
Shortly after the beginning of my child's special education journey, I consulted with Andranise to ensure that the proper steps were being taken to get her the help she needed. Andranise assisted with reviewing my child's Individualized Education Program (IEP) before it was implemented by the school. She was immediately able to identify several errors in the IEP that would have otherwise been missed if I had not procured her services.
CLIENT TESTIMONIAL:
Andranise is incredibly understanding, professional, and thorough. I always feel empowered to advocate for my child after working with Andranise. I would recommend her to anyone who has a child struggling with getting the help they deserve. 10/10!

SUBJECTS COVERED:
Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies, SAT, College Essays
OVERVIEW
I started working with the family during the son’s seventh grade year. We primarily worked on math and reading but also covered other subjects such as writing and social studies when necessary. I continued to work with the student in preparation for his STAAR exams in Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies. He passed all exams on the first attempt!

During ninth grade, we worked on Algebra I, English I, and Biology as I tailored my instruction to the subject areas the student needed. Throughout high school, the student was successful on all of his STAAR exams and began to look forward to college. I continued to support him academically, even as his focus shifted a bit towards college applications. I was honored to be able to assist with reviewing his college essays, and ultimately, the student was selected to attend his school of choice–Colorado School of Mines, a competitive university focused on science and engineering. I have worked with the student for years, and I truly feel like part of the family now. They treat me as if I am one of their own!
CLIENT TESTIMONIAL:
"Mrs. Andranise tutored my son starting in the seventh grade through his senior year in high school. My son has dyslexia and was struggling with confidence. With the excellent instruction from Mrs. Andranise, my son excelled with an improved understanding of how to study and adapted to his learning style. My son is currently entering his Sophomore year at Colorado School of Mines pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mrs. Andranise made the biggest impact on the direction of my son’s education!"
